10 Hugely Beloved PlayStation Franchises Sony Must Bring Back

4. Tomba!

Tomba! was a wonderfully original game with a unique sense of humour. Appearing on the PS1 in 1997, with a sequel in 1999, it was a side-scrolling 2-D game which allowed you to explore the depth of the screen itself. No description can come close to summing it up, though; the game was simply bonkers. Tomba is a wild youth attempting to retrieve his grandfather's possessions from the evil pigs who stole them. The gameplay was actually very good, with the depth of the screen an excellent feature. It deserves a reboot, though, for its wit and unique style. A 3D realisation of that world, with its strange signs, evil pigs, and giant eggs would be an inspired and characterful game. It's unlikely to happen, but never say never. Creator Tokuro Fujiwara is a law unto himself and has been at a loose end since 2010. He might well decide the time is right to unleash Tomba! 3 on an unsuspecting public.
