7. Jen - Prey

Prey is a brief but hugely entertaining cult classic, in which protagonist Tommy Tawodi along with his grandfather Enisi and girlfriend Jen are kidnapped by alien creatures and end up aboard their spaceship, referred to as The Sphere. After Enisi is killed, Tommy's sole pre-occupation becomes rescuing Jen, but tragedy strikes when he finds her in a pod-like device. It's soon enough revealed that Jen has been crudely grafted to an alien monster, and as it attacks, he is forced to fight the hybrid. Tommy ends up killing the creature, and then spirits away a mortally wounded Jen to the The Land of The Ancients, where she is seen with Enisi at the end of the game. Still, this was a tough one to swallow, given how committed Jen was to her home, and how galling it was for Tommy to have to kill his own love. At least in the world of Prey, unlike in many others, Jen's spirit continues to live on, and when Tommy eventually dies, he'll be able to join her.
