7. Sniper: Ghost Warrior II
MetaCritic Score: 52 I expect this is the game on my list that I'm going to struggle the most to convince you to play. After all, the first Sniper: Ghost Warrior game didn't exactly score well with critics (scores range from 45-55), so why would anyone take a shot (pardon the pun) at part 2? Well, I have never played the original game either, but I decided to take a crack at this one after finding it in a sale, and I don't regret it one bit. The gameplay mechanics are simple: you are a sniper, you're assigned targets, you occasionally have to avoid enemies in stealth sections, and you then move onto the next level. The game isn't particularly long, but more so than any other game I've played, it made me feel truly immersed in the art of sniping, having to take account of various environmental factors like wind and visibility before taking the crucial shot. It's no great shakes as far as characters and story are concerned, but it's pure wish fulfillment for anyone whose favourite FPS class is the sniper.
