MetaCritic Score: 76-86 Like a few other games on this list, Saints Row IV was critically acclaimed, and also did well commercially, with the PC version alone selling triple the number of copies of the previous game, Saints Row: The Third. Why, then, is it underrated? It's this constant association given to it by players that it's little more than a lesser younger brother of Grand Theft Auto, and the fact it came out a mere month before GTA certainly didn't help those comparisons. Saints Row IV is as barmy and hilariously politically incorrect as anyone will tell you, but it's also far more clever than its dumb reputation will suggest. The sly (and not so sly) pop culture references, the cutting dialogue and so on may not have the satirical precision of the GTA games, but it's devilishly smart all by itself. I for one can't wait to see what Volition can cook up for Saints Row V.
Stay at home dad who spends as much time teaching his kids the merits of Martin Scorsese as possible (against the missus' wishes).
