Survival horror is still very much a thing. However, gamers these days seem to prefer cacking their pants to invisible door-slamming nasties rather than, oh, I don't know, twenty foot tall lizards with a taste for digitally-rendered human tissue?

One of the definite jewels of the PS1 era, Dino Crisis was an incredibly entertaining and suspense-filled adventure on an island filled with hungry hungry dinosaurs. The renowned T-Rex window scene is one I'll never forget and is something that definitely needs the current gen makeover.

I want to anxiously tiptoe around an eerie science facility, following smears of blood and hoping a Velociraptor won't be around the corner chowing down on an unlucky employee. Sticking with the original gameplay formula for Dino Crisis would be my immediate thought for a reboot, although theres nothing saying a new incarnation couldn't adapt a PT style first person perspective which would immediately crank the anxiety factor up to 11.

Finally I'd like to see some variation in the role of the protagonist. Being a special agent is cool and all, but it takes away your sense of vulnerability. I'm feeling playing as a scientist or staff member, unarmed and afraid, desperately trying not to become a crying canapé and find a way to safety. Balls to Resident Evil 7, it's time Dino Crisis stopped being extinct.
