10 Iconic Video Game Scores That'll Give You Goosebumps

1. The Elder Scrolls Series - Jeremy Soule

Another which warrants a list of its own, the Elder Scrolls is represented as an entire series here. Beating even The Witcher 3 to the top, The Elder Scrolls score in an undisputed masterpiece.

In fantasy games, and particularly in huge, open world, quest-heavy fantasy games, it is vitally important to be invested in the story and immersed in the very world and, frankly, no other game or series achieves this total immersion better than TES.

While the debut Arena had simplistic digitised music, the imagination and nuance were still there, held back only by the limitations of the day. However, later titles like Daggerfall, Morrowind, Oblivion, Skyrim, and of course ESOnline have consistently blown players away with their sheer variety and scope.

Each area, race, guild, and enemy is distinguished by its own unique and memorable theme, and even during the quiet periods, the down-time between quests, the score is immense. Simply walking across a field in daylight, the subtle strings and virtually imperceptible percussion fully immerses the player in a true, fully realised world of dragons, Knights, Orcs, and Skeevers.

The Elder Scrolls music is gaming's very best, and Jeremy Soule's name should stand tall and proud alongside Shore, Williams, and Zimmer.
