10 Iconic Video Games You Didn't Realise Also Have TV Shows

8. Viva Piñata

This Xbox 360 exclusive was made by the same team at Rare who were responsible for Banjo-Kazooie on the N64, and Viva Piñata was as weird a game as it was a TV series. With no way to really win or lose, players took on the role of one of a group of piñatas who were tasked with turning a neglected plot of land into a beautiful garden.

With its cheerful, bright design and cheeky sense of humour, getting Viva Piñata onto TV seemed like a no-brainer. So in 2006, produced by the same guy who brought Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Pokémon and Yu-Gi-Oh! to 4Kids, Viva Piñata started its two season run.

The show itself was the by-product of what would happen if Katy Perry chugged a few litres of liquid LSD, as the Piñatas who are - at their core - anthropomorphic party decorations, dealt with immigration (of Piñatas, obviously), poaching, mysteries and violence... along with regular opportunities to hit the dance floor.

See for yourself...
