10 Iconic Video Games You Didn't Realise Also Have TV Shows

7. Where On Earth Is Carmen Sandiego?

One of the great unanswered questions of the latter 20th Century: Just where on earth was Carmen Sandiego? Most people who grew up in the 1990s will likely remember the cartoon series and may even remember the surprisingly long-running game show, but many people forget that Carmen Sandiego began as the star of a series of educational video games first released in the mid-80s.

The games follow the mysterious style of the period where players had to track Carmen and her neverending stream of dunderheaded henchmen across the earth, arresting each one in order to build up a picture of... well... where in the world Ms. Sandiego was. From there it was a short hop to arrest her - provided you were carrying the right warrant.

As with the rest of the franchise, the TV show kept the premise of the ACME Detective Agency - specifically teen agents Zack and Ivy - doing everything in their power to stop the eponymous thief and her V.I.L.E. henchmen from stealing priceless artefacts around the world.

And it was great. Seriously.
