10 Iconic Video Games You Didn't Realise Also Have TV Shows

2. The Legend of Zelda

The Legend of Zelda seems to be everyone's favourite game series. The adventures of Link and Princess Zelda, protecting the Kingdom of Hyrule from Ganon really captured peoples' imaginations all over the world, but you might not think of it as fondly once you see the TV incarnation.

Heavily based on 1986's The Legend of Zelda, the animated series formed part of the Super Mario Bros. Super Show (with one of the weirdest introductory raps in TV history - you can see it below). Each episode of The Legend Of Zelda opened with a pretty fantastic rendition of the main Zelda theme and Princess Zelda reciting the premise of the series:

"This is the Triforce of Wisdom, Link. The evil wizard Ganon has the Triforce of Power. Whoever possesses both Triforces will rule this land forever! You must help me, Link!"

Within the first two minutes of the opening episode, Link has already been creeping on the Princess from a high window, but then he's heroically defending the Triforce before reciting his soon-to-be catchphrase', "Excuuuuuse me, Princess." Y'know, from the gam- oh.

The whole thing's kind of creepy and irritating... but, well, the music's pretty great, so there's that.
