10 Incredible Bosses In Terrible Video Games

7. The Surge 2 - Little Johnny

The Surge and its sequel are shameless riffs on the Dark Souls formula. This is not exactly news, but it sets the tone here. Sci-fi jaunts from the team behind Lords of the Fallen, which is more an exact clone, both games are for the masochists only.

They're not great, confusing challenge with just being unnecessarily hard. But in terms of improvement, the second is the better of the two. Which is helped by a few good boss fights.

One of which is Little Johnny, the brother of main antagonist Brother Eli. Fought early on, Johnny challenges the player in a four-legged battle robot/tank thing. Naturally, for an early boss in a Souls game, it's also a challenge to overcome.

What makes it a challenge is that it's not a case of just smacking him relentlessly. There are coolant tanks that need taking out, which is easier said than done. But, it does teach you the Surge's targeting mechanics, so it makes sense.

To make it cooler, still, is that Johnny technically doesn't die. Players can find his head, a la the end of Crank 2, on life support later on. What they do to it, well... that's up to them.
