10 Incredible Characters Wasted In Terrible Video Games
6. Nines Rodriguez - Vampire The Masquerade: Bloodlines
Vampire The Masquerade: Bloodlines is mess that earned a devoted cult following thanks to its excellent writing and characters. Not only is Bloodlines glitchy, but it also lacks anything resembling balance. It's impossible to finish the game with certain character builds, which is the main thing you should be able to do in an RPG.
Nines Rodriguez is the head of the local faction of anarchist vampires, who call themselves, unimaginatively, the Anarchs. Having lived as a human during the Great Depression, he is also a loud voice of opposition to the other, much wealthier, vampire leaders in LA.
Not only does Nines save you from execution at the hands of those other leaders, he is also consistently one of the few people not planning to use you and throw you away. Throughout the game he remains a tried and true homie, offering advice and guidance, and never asking what you can do for him.
So it's a real bummer when he's ambushed and seemingly killed by a werewolf.
Until later, when you meet him laying low, having faked his death, with the bloody head of the werewolf laying beside him. Man you're cool, Nines.
