10 Incredible Characters Wasted In Terrible Video Games

4. Dr. Jonathan Reid - Vampyr

Vampyr is the perfect example of when a team with extremely limited resources, trying out a new genre for the first time, aim a bit too high by trying to emulate a Souls game. Maybe developer Dontnod - makers of the Life Is Strange series - should have opted for something a little less complex for only their second action title. But Vampyr shines in most other ways.

Jonathon Reed is a doctor and World War I vet who returns home to London, only to be turned, against his will, into a Vampire. From then on the player decides the extent to which Jonathan will give in to his dark temptations, right down to who to kill and eat; or to maintain your humanity entirely and feed only on rats.

As mentioned, Jonathan is a professional doctor. During the game you'll prescribe medicine and even perform emergency triage and surgery, all while trying to solve the mystery of who made you a vampire and why. It's refreshing to see a gentlemanly, scholarly protagonist in a bloody action game.
