10 Incredible Details You Missed In Zelda: Tears Of The Kingdom
2. Zelda's Torch Bookends The Narrative
This is such an innocuous little detail, yet it perfectly captures the sheer amount of thought and attention that went into Tears of the Kingdom. There's always someone looking at the little things.
During the game's opening minutes, Link and Zelda explore the depths of Hyrule castle, and the legendary princess carries a torch with her. After the encounter with the mummified corpse of Ganon, Zelda falls off a ledge and takes this torch with her. Bye bye torch!
Most people wouldn't even think twice about that instrument of light, but it appears again in the game's climax.
As you head down to take on Ganon head-to-head, you must retrace your steps from the beginning. Along the way, you'll find a torch that seems entirely out of place in the Gloom-covered bowels of Hyrule Castle. However, this is the same torch Zelda carried, lying where she would have landed had she not vanished to the past.
What an insanely specific detail! This is something nobody would have even questioned had it not appeared, but it shows how much thought Nintendo's developers put into this game.
