4. STALKER 2
A somewhat less sad story, STALKER 2 was to be the first numbered sequel to the STALKER series, which contains, thus far, the first game, a prequel and sequel. These are hardcore FPS titles set in an alternate realty version of Chernobyl, where a second explosion introduced severe amounts of radiation that started heavily mutating the wildlife and introduced numerous physical anomalies. Theyre like the ultimate in post-nuclear simulation games, combining exciting gunplay with immersive survival horror. Little was known about STALKER 2, although its safe to say that it would probably be a continuation of the previous games gameplay, and
according to the developer, was a cutting-edge game with a powerful story, which would... raise topical ecological problems, contain speculations about mans self-identification and about the role of mankind in evolution., which sounds like some heavy stuff. I reckon that this isnt the worst cancellation on the list, because not only do you have three other, excellent games to play in the series that offer similar gameplay, but STALKER 2 has also been somewhat revived as an MMO, known as Survarium. While the developers insist that both are completely different games its good to know that the spirit of the series lives on.
