10 Incredible Star Wars Video Games That Desperately Deserve Sequels

1. Knights Of The Old Republic

Could there be a more iconic Star Wars game than KOTOR? In terms of its story, gameplay, and strength of setting, not many titles in the franchise - let alone the medium - come close to toppling its status as the best sci-fi RPG to be released in recent memory. Indeed, it's an absolute wonder why there hasn't been a third game (no, TOR doesn't count) to speak of, especially since we know a third title reached the conceptual stages of development. Why it never went forward? Again, it's anyone's guess. One thing we can say for certain though is that out of all the titles on this list, KOTOR is the most deserving of a follow-up. The setting itself is immensely interesting, which whilst usually goes without saying for any title utilising the Star Wars licence, Bioware's segment of the mythos is especially riveting. Occupying a timeline centuries prior to the events of the main films gave the developers a huge creative licence to tell their own story without the constraints of the main trilogies to hinder their efforts - the result being what many consider to be the best Star Wars game of all time. Immense expectations for a sequel are symptomatic of KOTOR's exemplary reputation, but if anyone's up to the task of meeting them, it's Bioware. However, fan demand may be at odds with EA. and Disney's intention to focus on nothing but the timeline post-Revenge of the Sith, which again is proving to be the deciding factor in influencing the current output of Star Wars titles in their present form. Still, we've seen a limited release of old remasters occupying various timelines - it's always possible that it's a sign of good things to come. Did we miss any of your favourite Star Wars games? Content Producer/Presenter

WhatCulture's very own resident movie guy, Ewan has been working in the content creation biz for over 10 years now, having started as a freelance contributor to WhatCulture Gaming all the way back in 2015. After graduating with a First-Class Honours in History from Northumbria University in 2017 (where he won a prize for a totally killer dissertation on the Watergate years), Ewan took on the role of Comics Editor at WhatCulture and quickly developed WhatCulture Comics into one of the biggest superhero-focused channels on YouTube. He followed this with a brief hiatus at Screen Rant in 2021, where he worked across the Gaming and Film sections as a writer and editor, before returning to WhatCulture as a Senior Content Producer / Presenter in 2023. He started his own podcast, We Love Dad Movies, in 2022, and has contributed several written pieces to the Eisner-nominated comics website Shelfdust as well. In his current role, Ewan incorporates his love of cinema, comic books, and history into written pieces and video essays for WhatCulture's Film & TV channel, as well as WhatCulture Gaming and WhatCulture Horror, with a particular focus on nineties-era Dad Movies, old school Westerns, and Golden Age Hollywood Noir. John Carpenter is his fave, and he thinks Batman Beyond should never have been cancelled. If that's your vibe, you'll probably like his stuff.
