10 Incredible Video Game Characters Who Only Appeared In ONE Game

5. Vaas Montenegro - Far Cry 3

It’s tempting to say that the definition of insanity is Vaas only appearing in one Far Cry instalment, but the truth is, the fleeting nature of his appearance helps make him special.

Keeping him alive longer in 3 wouldn’t have hurt, but he had such a psychologically compelling presence that he didn’t need to be on screen to sink his claws into you.

The best part of Vaas’ unhinged rambling is how unpredictable he is. Never sacrificing realism that someone could genuinely be this deranged, Vaas constantly keeps you on your toes. Thanks in part to Michael Mando’s fantastic voice acting, Vaas’ monologues are some of the best in gaming.

Many games have had the ‘crazy villain’ schtick running through them before, but none quite as good as Far Cry. His only real competitor in that regard is Handsome Jack from Borderlands, whose multiple appearances here disqualify him.

Far Cry even managed to repeat the trick with a much more level headed, suave sociopath in Far Cry 4’s Pagan Min. He misses out here to keep it to one character per series, but deserves an honourable mention.
