Ciri is practically guaranteed to feature in the next Witcher game, and after being playable in III, might even become the main protagonist. For now though, she’s only been in one game, and therefore qualifies. To be honest, it’s the lingering idea that she could be back which keeps her out of medal contention.

Back to Ciri though, and despite Geralt’s huge presence, for a lot of players she stole the show. Where Geralt was rough and stoic, Ciri was swifter, more incisive and measured. He’s a battle axe and she’s a dagger.

She provides a fantastic contrast with Geralt while managing to stand out on her own too. She’s a driving force throughout the story, both as a goal in Geralt’s quest and in the sections where she becomes protagonist.

Up against a character like Geralt, it would have been very easy for Ciri’s sections to feel like a dull distraction, stealing us away from the ‘real’ game. Instead, she added a new dimension, and managed to carve out a strong identity with limited screen time.
