6. Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell: Blacklist

Some franchises start getting a little tired after four or five entries, even when they started life as some of the most cutting-edge entertainment on the planet.

As a result, it's almost understandable that Splinter Cell: Blacklist doesn't get the recognition it deserves - after all, it's the seventh entry in a series that offers little by way of innovation.

But Blacklist has a lot more to offer than it appears to. In an industry overrun with standard shooters, Blacklist holds just enough charm to set it ever so subtly apart.

Hailed for its campaign, which many believe to be superior to those of previous installments, Blacklist also received praise for its expansive multiplayer features. There was a Spies vs. Mercs mode, in which players take on either the role of a spy or a mercenary, with their own combat tactics. The mode mirrors Splinter Cell's general ethos, in that players can opt for a stealthy approach or can wade in on a wave of bullets if they so choose.

Blacklist isn't a title that gets much mention any more, and it's criminally underrated.
