7. Farming Simulator
The yin to Stardew Valley's yang, Farming Simulator is to farming what Flight Simulator is to avionics. That is to say, it is as close to it without the faff as you can get.
A series running for close to twelve years now, Farming Simulator (as a franchise) has gone on to sell a combined total of 25 million copies.
And you're probably thinking, "...why and/or how?"
Consensus says that it's the sense of calm that you wouldn't get in something like, oh I don't know, Call of Duty. The only bombs being dropped on you are the cost of new equipment.
There's something so calming yet intrinsically rewarding about reaping what you sow, bringing in that business and pootling about in a combine harvester too.
It's certainly not going to be everyone's cup of tea, and we're not telling you to play them. But, should your wont take you, you'll find something so serene about managing your own realistic attempt at a farmer's life.
