10 Incredibly Depressing Video Game Stories From 2014

9. Destiny's Total Disregard For Single Player

Destiny continues to be a very weird game. Some players - 3.2 million a day by developer Bungie's count - can't get enough of it, speccing their weapons in any number of ways, blasting various alien races into smithereens and journeying through the incredibly hard Vault of Glass raid with a bunch of friends. Others though either don't have the time, or the inclination (or both) to dedicate so much effort towards a largely fruitless online mode, or - more likely - are still too annoyed by the total lack of a story within the single player. It's true Destiny does many things right, but touting (and showing off in pre-release trailers) a gigantic universe full of interlocking stories, races and loot-drops, only to completely fail to deliver a satisfactory experience for any who don't want to play online, has left many wondering where the main game actually is.
