10 Insane Alternate Video Game Sequels You Won't Believe Got Cancelled
8. Fallout 3 - The Original New Vegas
Bethesda propelled Fallout to radical new heights when they rebooted the franchise with Fallout 3, but the trajectory of the series could have been very different had the original studio not gone bust.
After releasing two superb isometric RPGs that still hold up today, a third game was put into development to expand on the post-apocalyptic world even more with brand new tech. The first major change was the jump to full 3D, with real-time combat being optional alongside the regular turn-based features.
The setting had shifted to the Southwest, with Nevada being a main area, while a background plot would have seen the NCR being at war with the Brotherhood of Steel, and the militaristic Ceasar's Legion gaining power.
If some of that sounds familiar, it's because a bunch of these ideas were implemented in Fallout: New Vegas, by some of the original leads on the Van Buren project, no less.
