7. Earthbound: Baby Killing
Eathbound is a very popular RPG coming from Japan that launched one of Nintendo's latest faces, Ness, onto a large scale. Originally titled a sequel to Mother, and released in Japan as Mother 2. However, in Earthbound, you play as Ness and his friends Paula, Jeff and Poo, known collectively as "The Chosen Four". In Earthbound, or Mother 2, Ness and his friends are sought after to save the younger brother of another character called Pokey (or Porky in Japan). The antagonist in this game is Giygas, an alien from a far off galaxy with the power to influence people using their own nature. During the game, the group travels through various different levels, including a winter level called Winters, a beach resort level called Summers, as well as a variety of towns called Onett, Twoson, Threed and Fourside. Giygas is a central part of the conspiracy theory regarding Earthbound, and it is quiet a deep one as well. As the story progresses, your final battle is against Giygas goes in several stages, and the path to get here and the battle itself is incredibly bizarre. The theory goes that Ness must travel back in time to defeat Giygas, he travels back to when Giygas is a foetus with supporters of this theory pointing out that the background seems to take the shape of a baby in a uterus. It doesn't help that all this has the backing track of a rape scene, which was inspired by a movie the game creator accidentally walked into as a child called "The Officer and the Dismembered Beauty". Another piece of evidence that conspiracy theorists point to is that the game was originally titled "Mother 2", sequel to a Japanese game of the same name, but was changed to Earthbound for American audiences.
