10 Insane Gaming Facts That Will Blow Your Mind

2. Devil May Cry Was Originally Resident Evil 4

Here€™s a big shock considering that on an initial glance, these two games don€™t have a lick in common until you dig deeper and connect what are actually obvious dots. It€™s all documented and true though.

Hideki Kamiya was tasked by Shinji Mikami to shake his franchise creation up. Apparently Kamiya got out of control, adding swords and an original plot that resolved around solving your own murder amidst gothic cathedrals and various British inspired brooding environments.

All of this became too much though and the developers decided that it was best to keep the current groundwork €“ including a protagonist that only received a color palette hair-color swap- and retool it into a story fixated on hellish demons. Outside of swapping Britain with Spain, most environments are actually similar too and distinctly gothic in design.

Let€™s not forget the traditional survival horror tropes of exploring one large multilayered mansion equivalent either, and scouring it for secret key items that unlocked doors halfway around the building.

Bonus Fact: Devil May Cry €“or rather this entire hacking and slashing genre- was also born from a development glitch. This particular case is from Genma Onimusha which had an ousted hiccup that enabled enemies to be juggled in combat. Clearly it was awesome, and became a core gameplay staple of Devil May Cry.
