10 Insane Reasons That Video Games Were Missing Features

1. No Overlap Map To Keep Combat & Navigation Separate - Diablo IV

Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2
Blizzard

One of the chief complaints about Diablo IV leading up to release was Blizzard's peculiar decision to remove one of the series' mainstay features - the overlay map.

The overlay map allows players to display a transparent version of the game map on top of the screen during play - a simple but brilliant accessibility feature which makes multi-tasking while playing so much easier.

But Diablo IV ditched the feature altogether, and when Blizzard were quizzed about this odd choice during a pre-release livestream, game director Joe Shelly gave a dissatisfyingly wishy-washy response.

The murky rationale? The development team wanted to keep the combat and navigation systems separate, basically in an attempt to stop players from keeping the overlap map up the entire time.

And so, it was tossed out entirely and replaced with a wildly inferior mini-map instead.

Options are a good thing, Blizzard, and so why take away something which the fanbase has been so vocally fond of and reliant upon throughout the series' history?
