8. Yugoloths
There are many types of demons and devils in Dungeons and Dragons. Usually, they are found fighting over territory or generally making life unpleasant for other creatures. Someone has to do all this dirty work though, and that is where the Yugoloths come in.
Yugoloths take neutral approaches to the affairs of the other fiends. Usually only becoming involved when a situation may be profitable, or otherwise help their schemes. They often work as Mercenaries in these conflicts, selling their services to the highest bidder.
They are not as stupid as many believe though. While they may allow others to see them as nothing more than greedy mercenaries, this is only one group of their society. The higher caste members see these constant conflicts as ways to control and manipulate those involved, so that they may ultimately come out on top.
You could fit these creatures into your game in a number of ways. Perhaps the group needs a temporary ally, or they have angered a fiend. Just remember, they are known for their underhanded techniques.
