10 Interesting But Underused Creatures In Dungeons And Dragons

7. Tarrasque

D&D Creature
Wizards of the Coast

There are whispers in the ancient corners of the world about a truly terrifying creature. One that is 70-feet long, covered in armour plating and can swallow a man whole. They are of course talking about the Tarrasque.

This creature has a challenge rating of 30… yes, that’s correct. With an ac of 25, 676 hit points and the ability to make five attacks on its turn. I hope your party is prepared for a tough fight. This, however, is only the start of this monster's power. It has the ability to swallow a large creature whole. While you can attempt to escape, it will be a difficult thing to do while being digested.

It continues to get worse though. It can also frighten a creature just by its mere presence and can do this at the start of every turn. Surely this must be it? Well no. It can also absorb or even reflect all manner of spells. The final straw is that it is immune to fire, poison, bludgeoning, piercing and slashing damage from non-magical weapons.

There is a reason the Tarrasque isn’t used often, it is an endgame creature and even then it’s still a great challenge. What a way to end that year long campaign.
