7. Dethl - The Legend Of Zelda: Link's Awakening

Although it often gets overlooked, The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening was a pretty damn fine installment in the iconic series, and one of the biggest reasons why a lot of people picked up a Game Boy back in the day.

Getting to the final screen and facing off against the last boss in Link's Awakening was an arduous journey, and if you weren't careful, the different forms of the Nightmare could make quick work of you.

However, there was one unassuming weapon that was essential if you wanted to have a one up in the drawn-out battle. It wasn't a mystical sword, a magic spell or a piece of tactical information, but rather a regular old boomerang.

While you'll have to fight through the Nightmare's many stages before you can kill it for good, once the boss transforms into his final form, the Dethl, all it actually takes is a well-timed boomerang to the face to take him down. It's not the most spectacular finish, but it certainly does the job.
