10 Laziest Super Mario Boss Fights Of All Time

4. The Koopalings - Super Mario World

Super Mario Bros.
Nintendo

The Koopalings debuted in Super Mario Bros. 3 and served as the bosses of each World. Despite each villain being armed with an enchanted wand, the seven Koopalings have the same tactic; shooting energy blasts and jumping around. There are some slight variances (Ludwig creates earthquakes, Wendy hurls rings, etc.) but the battles are basically the same.

You could argue the lack of variety is due to the limitations of the NES console. When The Koopalings returned in Super Mario World, you'd assume the fights would have more range since it was on the Super Nintendo.

But excluding Ludwig, each Koopaling is a clone of another in appearance and strategy. Wendy's tactic of hiding in pipes is identical to Lemmy's. Larry and Iggy shoot fireballs while balancing on a tilting platform. (What makes this fight worse is you can defeat both Koopalings in one second!) Roy is a reskin of Morton Jr. since both bosses scale the walls. However, if you stomp on Roy or Morton Jr. quickly enough, you will defeat them before they have a chance to attack you one single time.

In hindsight, it's crazy Super Mario World was hailed as a masterpiece considering how uncreative the bosses' strategies are.
