10 Legendary Nintendo Characters We're All Sick To Death Of
8. Kirby
Kirby has always been one of the most fascinating to me, if only because of the unique fun derived from the gameplay. With the exception of Megaman, I can't think of any other game that expertly uses a copy ability to move a game forward and keep it interesting to the very end. Unfortunately, Nintendo has done literally nothing else with the character or the games. The closest they got to "revolutionising" the formula was with Kirby's Epic Yarn, which was a fun and beautiful game that expertly made us aware of how it came to be ("Well guys, we turned Mario into paper...I guess we could turn Kirby into yarn?). The main reason I'm sick of Kirby has nothing to do really with the actual games. I'm just sick of trying to care for a character that is so one-dimensional. Of all of the top-tier Nintendo characters, Kirby has to be the most indifferent to anything resembling a personality or foundation for things like motivation or even courage. He's just...there. This was fine about 15 games ago, when we were just focused on how fun it was to eat our enemies and gain power from their blood or something. But when you decide to throw the same character at us each year, you should at least give him something to say.
