10 Legendary Nintendo Characters We're All Sick To Death Of
7. Wario
Wario's rise to becoming one of Nintendo's most recognisable characters is a fascinating tale rife with sheer luck and some brilliant game mechanics. Most notable was the decision to make him invincible in his early games and then completely transition the game into a comedic funhouse of minigames. I have a lot of nice things to say about Wario, but one thing that has really brought him down is Nintendo's decision to essentially sideline him. He went from being an interesting antihero/villain to becoming a silly mascot for decent minigames. As a result, I cringe every time I see the once promising Nintendo character being ambiguously evil in Mario Party or Super Smash Bros. The main problem is that Wario hasn't had his own game (aside from WarioWare) in about six years, as WarioLand was essentially abandoned for unclear reasons. It's tragic because these were his best games in my opinion, and they gave us a much more interesting look into the character of Wario without having to compare him to his long-time rival and sometimes villain, Mario.
