10 Lengthy Video Games That Were Absolutely Obliterated By Speedrunners
7. Hitman
Following a somewhat disappointing outing in 2012's Hitman: Absolution, IO Interactive's premier franchise made a steady comeback with the release of the episode Hitman in 2016. It took the franchise back to its roots, relying heavily on dynamic level design to give players many ways to eliminate their targets.
Environmental kills, accidental suicides and the good old-fashioned twin pistols are all viable options, but many of them often require careful planning and for Agent 47's objective to be in the right place at the right time. Constantly replaying the same missions over and over is encouraged to achieve different goals, but what if players instead wanted to complete them quickly?
In a series that normally encourages players to take their time and experiment, pure skill condenses that time down to less than an hour for every main mission. They quickly direct Agent 47 through the crowds or up the environments, often without being spotted by a single guard and with limited resources to boot.
The player "CJ" blasted through every main mission in the game in twenty-six minutes on professional difficulty, using only the silent assassin suit. That's....bloody impressive, and might actually mark CJ as a prime candidate for a real assasin!
