10 Locations Ubisoft Should Take Far Cry After Primal

7. A Swinging Sixties Spy Thriller

Far Cry would suit a pulpy 1960s setting brilliantly, bringing a colourful, Bond-esque tone to the series' gritty action.

The plot may return the player to the tropical climate associated with the series, perhaps casting the hero as a spy sent to a remote island to kill a dictator or rescue a prisoner (maybe both). Ubisoft should add plenty of gadgets, such as watch-detonated mines, pen-lasers, and even jetpacks to bring a new dynamic to the Far Cry experience.

Playing as a spy also helps to make the plot a little more lighthearted in places, with cackling super-villains hungry for world-domination and an army of anonymous troops at their disposal. The action should be as big or as grounded as Ubi prefer: the plot could play as straight as a Daniel Craig Bond film or as campy as one from the Roger Moore era, packed with ridiculous twists and turns. Meanwhile, the soundtrack might make use of sixties songs and Bond-style themes, with a glamorous female spy providing high-kicking assistance throughout the game.

Like Blood Dragon's 1980s view of the future, the 1960s could be set in an alternative timeline, in which technology is more advanced than it really was in that era, but with a retro spin.
