10 Lost Video Game Characters You Didn't Realise Came Back
7. Aiden Pearce In Watch Dogs 2
Okay, so Aiden Pearce might not necessarily be the most beloved or popular videogame protagonists (despite Ubisoft’s desperate attempts to make him “iconic”), but if you’re anything like me, you’ll have probably thought the choice to make the more charismatic Marcus Holloway the new series protagonist was an attempt to erase Aiden from existence (and have us forget the trenchcoat-wearing psychopath ever existed).
Yet, those of us who persevered throughout Watch_Dogs 2 and its many side-missions might be surprised to come across him as “The Fox” in an optional objective named “Shadows”.
Marcus lives in San Francisco, and as such, the progressive bunch of folks don’t bat an eyelid when they hear about a weed-trafficking job. But when they discover they’re moving people, not drugs, Marcus goes to investigate.
He discovers that Aiden has actually been tailing this human trafficking ring, but has gotten himself caught - using his hackerly powers, though, Marcus assists Aiden via the security cameras, setting Pearcey-boy free to do some hardcore murderlising.
After Marcus returns back to his pals, he remarks at how amazed he was to have been in the presence of the “iconic” Aiden Pearce but (quite appropriately) didn’t take a picture as he was too intimidated.
