6. Microsoft Announce A New Xbox One Model
How to get back on top, following what's turned into two years of eating Sony's dust? Well, although it'd be a precedent for console gaming, we could be looking at Microsoft announcing a new model for the Xbox One, or rather, an 'add-on' of some kind that puts it far above the PS4 in terms of pure power and graphical capability.
At the end of the day, both the Xbox One and PS4 have been woefully unprepared for today's gaming scene from day one. At launch they were already behind the current spate of PCs, and it's only gone downhill from there. 99% of triple-A games launch with tons of bugs, crippling frame-rates and other issues that get patched later down the line, and it's a problem stemming from the systems themselves not feeling capable in the face of more expansive and resource-heavy games.
Microsoft are apparently more aware of this than Sony, and speaking to Polygon, Xbox boss Phil Spencer said "You'll actually see us come out with new hardware capability during a generation, allowing the same games to run backward and forward compatible allows us to focus more and more on hardware innovation without invalidating the games that run on that platform."
Whether this means an entirely new form factor console shell, or some way of bolting additional hardware to your existing unit, what better time to get out ahead of Sony than on the same stage they got roasted on back in 2013?
