10 Most Memorable Uses Of Music In Video Games

3. Grand Theft Auto: Vice City €“ GOLDen Moments

One of the things that's so great about the Grand Theft Auto series and their soundtracks, is that there are so many random moments where the radio of your ride seems to sync up completely with whatever's going on onscreen in a moment of such divine serendipity, that it's almost impossible not to have your head explode all over the screen. I could have written a whole article about such moments, ranging from listening to Double Clef in GTA3 as you went about some Clockwork Orange-inspired violence, to being Welcomed to the Jungle in San Andreas, being drunk and driving in the rain to Phil Collins' Mama in GTA4, to bopping to Britney Spears as the murdering psychopath Trevor in GTA5, but as with all of the great moments in gaming, each one is individual to the player. And this is mine: running away from the cops along the Vice City shore on a little pink Faggio when the radio suddenly kicks up Gold by Spandau Ballet. I pushed the scooter to the max, jumping off the sand and winding through the streets as my little wasp-engine was just enough to keep me one step in front of the fuzz. I weaved in and out of traffic, I slid in and out of side streets, and just as the music hit its crescendo, I hit a Unique Stunt Jump that slowed everything down as I soared into the sky and left the police to crash amongst themselves below.
