3. Cassettes
Cassette tapes! Video games could actually be stored on cassette tapes back in the day. So for those of you who have never had the (mis)fortune to play on a Commodore 64, give that some thought for a moment... That's right, those flimsy plastic rectangles with the even flimsier stringy tape inside were used to store the delicate, intricate data required to make a functioning video game. Of course, this contributed to the despairingly slow loading times, but we coped. The best thing about the tapes was that, in the event of wanting to copy a game, you simply had to put it in to a double cassette player alongside a blank cassette, then you would press play on the game and press record on the blank. A few minutes later; voila! A carbon copy of the game was created.
