10 Mind-Blowing Theories About Batman: Arkham Knight's Identity

10. The Joker

Lets get this out of the way immediately because it's the one theory absolutely NOBODY wants to be true. All three previous games have featured the Joker as the primary antagonist and honestly, why wouldn't they have? The Joker is the most popular and iconic Batman villain of all time and arguably one of the most beloved fictional villains full stop. But after three games it's fair to say he's had his chance. That and the fact that the end of Arkham City (SPOILER ALERT!) makes this theory impossible. Rocksteady would have some nerve if they undid the stunning ending of the previous game. Bringing the Joker back after leading us to believe he died, would reek of desperation and laziness unbecoming of a company with their reputation. No, we're positive Joker is not the Arkham Knight. And there's plenty of evidence! Despite the obvious handicap of being dead, the Joker doesn't actually fit the Arkham Knights description at all. He is tall and wiry, with little experience in hand to hand combat. The Knight, as seen in the trailer, is clearly muscular with weapons training, and can take down Batman single-handedly. As the literal opposite of Batman, the Joker does not hide behind a mask. Where Batman wears black and hides in the shadows, Joker wears bright colors, and demands an audience. If he were the Knight he would make it public. It's entirely feasible the Joker would hire the Arkham Knight to take out Batman, but he is definitely not the Knight himself. Lastly the game is set only one year after the end of Arkham City, so unless the Arkham Knight is a time traveler, we can safely assume he is not the Joker's son!
