There are some games on this list which we really do know nothing about, however, hype, speculation and teaser trailers can often be enough for us RPG addicts.

Not much is known about FromSoftware's Elden Ring, though, we do know a lot about its development. Headed by the director/producer of Dark Souls, Bloodborne and Sekiro titles, Hidetaka Miyazaki, and in collaboration with George R.R Martin; we’re already feeling the warmth of a fantasy world covered in bonfires and scorching enemies.

Now, some may wonder about how Elden Ring is an RPG, especially because Soulsborne games are rarely referred to directly as role-playing games. But, through a different take on certain definitions in the gaming industry, Miyazaki has revealed some information.

Along with an RPG, Elden Ring is being advertised as open-world.

Miyazaki has said in interviews that the game is bigger in scale than prior titles, choices in weapons, magic and abilities will affect how the player explores the huge world. I don’t know about you, but that’s enough to make me think he’s going for an RPG-style game, even if choices aren’t inherently his style.

What makes me even more optimistic is his honesty, stating, although not technically open-world, the devs have taken their own approach to a large, open field for us to play in.
