10 Misunderstood Video Game Consoles The World Should Have LOVED
6. Sega Saturn
SEGA made their own move in 1995 to go up against Sony's PlayStation as they looked to build on the success of the Genesis (Mega Drive) and the previous Master System.
With Sonic the Hedgehog as the company's driving force, everyone expected SEGA's 32-bit release to prove equally as popular as previous consoles.
While it was popular in its own right and didn't completely miss audiences, the Saturn couldn't defeat Sony, thanks to some questionable marketing and pricing strategies at the time.
Those included not releasing a version of Sonic, something SEGA players were crying out for, and focusing on everything but.
The Saturn had plenty of players, and games like Daytona USA, Virtua Cop and Virtua Fighter all paved the way for bigger future games like Tekken and Gran Turismo.
It's a crying shame that one of the biggest companies of the 90s dropped so far from its perch. Users wanting the next big thing as well as mistakes by the company itself meant not as many people got to experience the Saturn.
A crying shame.
