1997's Blade Runner was a point-and-click adventure where players were charged with hunting down replicants in Los Angeles, serving as a companion piece to the film.

The game puts emphasis on solving clues and analyzing suspects. The Voight-Kampff machine, used to determine replicants, was integrated into the gameplay as well, with a randomized system that meant different identities for replicants per game.

This added replayability means no playthrough is the same, with dialogue choices giving players the freedom to conduct themselves however they saw fit, producing different personalities that unlock new paths and endings. Blade Runner also captured the look and feel of the movie, with designer Syd Mead serving as a consultant while Sean Young and James Hong reprised their roles through cameos. Finally, it was one of the first adventure games to have 3D rendering in real-time.

The game turned out to be a commercial success, earning numerous awards, though no sequels were made due to production costs. Still, Blade Runner received an Enhanced Edition in 2022 and was released on modern consoles for the current generation to experience.
