10 More Infuriating Video Game Levels You Forgot You Hated

8. Forest Compound - Return To Castle Wolfenstein

Return to Castle Wolfenstein is a tough, tough game even for the standards of the Wolfenstein franchise, enough that you might've just rage quit entirely during the third mission's Forest Compound level.

Players are tasked with infiltrating a Nazi supply compound, and doing so without letting any of the 21 enemies on the map sound the alarm, as will result in mission failure.

While you can destroy each of the six alarms to prevent this, that's a lot easier said than done given the wild inconsistency of the game's stealth mechanics.

Killing an enemy soldier may semi-randomly alert another soldier far away, making the Forest Compound a grueling exercise in perseverance and trial-and-error.

Compounding the frustration, to complete the level you need to sneak onboard a truck while both keeping one guard alive and not alerting him, which per the iffy, uneven AI is much trickier than it sounds.
