2. Fake Helicopter Ride Glitching - Prey (2017)

This one is a bit of a spoiler for the most recent Prey game but only the first ten minutes or so, so you don’t have to worry too much about ruining the narrative by getting across this entry. Essentially, at the start of the game you’ll be called up by your brother to come start your new gig as part of TranStar’s research team.

Long story short, the helicopter on the roof that is supposed to take you to your job is all fake. You’ve actually been fooled into a reality that is nothing like the one you’re trapped in.

Curiously this is actually apparent from the beginning of the game, but it’s suspected this wasn’t necessarily Arkane’s initial intention. In the beginning sequence while you’re in the helicopter you’ll notice a number of visual and graphical glitches including the cityscape glitching out entirely and the shadow of your helicopter bugging out. Allegedly, this wasn’t intentional but given the result of this sequence is the reveal that nothing is as it seems and the entire cinematic is fabricated, it actually makes sense for the environment to glitch out.

Whether intended or not, players got trolled into buying a false reality, and Arkane pulled one over on you while quietly foreshadowing things weren’t as they appear from the beginning.
