10 Most Addictive Video Games Of All Time

8. Championship/Football Manager

Two games that are in essence the same, but still very different, Championship Manager and Football Manager are the biggest names in fantasy football simulators. There have been many attempts to replicate the genius of these titles including an effort from EA for consoles that actually linked up to their flagship FIFA title, but it paled in comparison to the heavyweights.

Quite how these games can be so addictive is beyond many people; especially those who aren’t big fans of the beautiful game. Year after year, new games are released with novel features you never knew you needed and updated player ratings that painstakingly accurate (in most instances!).

The nature of most players’ addiction comes from the age old adage ‘just one more match’. It doesn’t matter if it’s a cup final, the day before the transfer window or just a mid-season fixture that is virtually meaningless – you always have time for one more match.

Of course, when you realise it’s three o’clock in the morning and you’ve been playing for nine hours; you have immediate regret but it’s balanced out thanks to the knowledge you’ve taken little Luton Town to the Champion’s League final in just five seasons – top that Mr Mourinho!
