Perhaps not familiar to players of just Rockstar's main series GTA games, Reni Wassulmaier makes his/her/his again appearance in the portable spin-off GTA: Vice City Stories. Reni is one of the game's 'bosses' and has a respectably sized chunk of missions for the player. Though the missions offered to players by Reni are fairly run of the mill, in terms of GTA mechanics, the actual character itself is possibly the single most ridiculous Rockstar have ever created. With Reni, Rockstar moved themselves from their usual brashly employed yet subtly structured satirical humour to a more over the top and absurd presentation of a character who has had four sex change operations. To put this in obvious terms and to use an example, it's like moving from the razor-sharp satire of 'South Park' to the more obnoxious humour of 'Family Guy'; both are entertaining in their own right, but Rockstar are far more successful with the former of these two. Reni is just a downright silly character, and one that players will have not likely felt much compulsion to protect other than to advance the story and be rid of him... or her?
