6. Call Of Duty: Ghosts
The X1 reveal on May 21st 2013 brought Microsoft under much fire. Not much about Microsoft's rival to the PS4 sat well with gamers and existing fans of the Xbox 360. This is primarily due to the fact that during the reveal, much of the emphasis over the next-gen console was placed on the fact that you could talk to it, and watch tv through it, rather than its gaming capabilities. However, the one thing that the reveal did get right, was the unveiling of Call of Duty: Ghosts. Many rumours circulated the internet about developer Infinity Ward's newest venture, and when the trailer was finally shown at the X1 reveal, it stole the show. The new COD follows a plot whereby a cataclysmic event changed the balance of power in the world, and results in the United States no longer being recognised as a superpower. A decade after that, a small but elite group of soldiers wage a covert war against the enemy, which affects both America and themselves in a dramatic way. Okay so the plot isn't so new, nor is it very creative. This being said though, the COD formula has never failed to garner a positive response. Perhaps this is because of the strong multiplayer aspect of the game, or perhaps the intensive and realistic gameplay that always satisfy fans of the series. From the trailer, it is evident that the game developers are taking advantage of the hardware upgrade on next-gen consoles, as the graphics take a much needed refresher course. Textures look smooth and people look realistic. Also, a major focal point brought up during the reveal was the fact that dogs will be making an appearance in the game. While it seems a bit ridiculous to obsess over the inclusion of an animal in a first-person shooter, it is a cool add-on feature that should be noted. Overall the series is doing what it does best, while improving on what is already good. A pre-E3 webcast is supposed to be broadcasted on the 9th june 2013 via the official call of duty website. Call of duty: Ghosts is set for release on PS3, Xbox 360, Wii U, PS4, X1 and PCs from 5th November 2013. Current and future Xbox users are in for a treat because as promised, Microsoft's tie-up with Activision is going to get them earlier access to DLCs, along with exclusive content.
