9. Dying Light 2

The Last Of Us 2 Ellie
Techland

Release Date: Spring

Releasing in the quiet of January, the original Dying Light's high quality was a huge surprise, with developer Techland making their Dead Island games look like amateur efforts in comparison. The game's inspired mix of zombie killing and fluid parkour movement was a winning combination, and it was just so darn fun to play.

Smartly then, Dying Light 2 is focused on ensuring that said movement is as seamless and rewarding as possible, allowing you to escape from and defeat the undead threat without ever feeling restrained by your immediate environment.

Even more parkour moves have been added this time around, with some being exclusive to certain areas (and the size of the map has been increased, so there's more space to play around in), grappling hooks and paragliders are available to aid traversal, and chaining your movements between jumps, slides, wall-runs and rope-swings is even more refined than it was in the first game.

Combine that with an open world that reacts to your presence and changes based upon your decisions - you can destroy certain factions while helping others, for example - and Dying Light 2 looks to be building upon its impressive predecessor to deliver an even bigger and more energetic zombie-crushing experience.
