9. Injector – TimeSplitters: Future Perfect
The Injector is what you get if you combine The Noisy Cricket from
Men In Black, but load it with that weird anticoagulant vaccine from
the 1998 Blade movie. This seemingly innocuous weapon, barely the
size of the character's hand, fired darts into their enemies, causing
them to writhe in pain, inflate, and ultimately explode their innards
across the room.
What made this even more brutal was that it wasn't actually a one-hit-kill. If you were on the receiving end of the dart, you had three seconds to escape, and the effect would dissipate. However, get hit again and it was game over. This need to be hit multiple times somehow made the gun even scarier, as being hit wasn't the end, but resulted in a desperate attempt of fight or flight.
Furthermore, any darts that didn't hit their target could be retrieved, as they'd just sit in the wall or floor where they had impacted until the shooter came to collect them, meaning waiting for these bastards to run out of ammo was rarely a viable strategy.
