10 Most Criminally Over-Looked PS3 Games You Never Played
8. Heavenly Sword
Heavenly Sword was released super early after the PS3s launch and immediately struck players with its similarity to Sonys God of War franchise. Players controlled Nariko, the daughter of the clan leader, on a quest for revenge. In her desperation she takes up the Heavenly Sword, a weapon forged for a deity and not meant to be wielded by a mortal being. Wielding the blade drains Nariko of life energy and requires the ultimate price to be paid. Many players gobbled up each new God of War title, but completely missed this gem, which is unfortunate. The game is both beautiful and fun, albeit with some flaws. For example, the combat system often feels repetitive and sometimes seems to pause the storys progression with few rewards to show for it. Lack of a block button can leave the player feeling vulnerable, although the game often auto-blocks an enemys attack. But for all the games flaws, Heavenly Sword offers up a great experience. Players can mow down enemies with the Heavenly Sword and use God of War-style finishing combos. Levels can be replayed to unlock extra rewards. And the game presents an emotional, revenge-fueled story to keep player motivated.
