10 Most Criminally Over-Looked PS3 Games You Never Played

7. Folklore

Folklore

Folklore is another of the PS3€s earliest games, and one that not many people seem to know about. An action/adventure RPG, Folklore is certainly unique for the genre. Ellen and Keats, the game€™s two main characters, meet on the island of Doolin. Ellen is on the island to find her mother, while Keats is responding to a phone call concerning faeries. Both soon realize that there is much more to Doolin than meets the eye, and the game is spent unraveling the mysteries of this strange, supernatural island.

Doolin serves as a hub world, connecting several supernatural realms that the player must traverse. In each realm, the player must choose to play as either Ellen or Keats throughout that chapter. Eventually however, the stories of both characters converge, meaning that the player must play through each realm as both characters. This serves to make the game both unique and flawed. Playing through both storylines can feel repetitive, especially when facing the same level bosses more than once. Both characters have unique stories, though, so it€™s well worth it in the end. Also plaguing the game are slow load times and a lot of exposition. But Folklore also serves up great combat, flawless button combinations, and a unique comic book-style storytelling mechanic. This is one great RPG that shouldn€™t be missed!

I am a librarian, gamer, and all-around nerd. I love Harry Potter, Doctor Who, and Star Trek. I own more games than I will ever play and more books than I will ever read.
