10 Most Crushing Gaming Disappointments Of All Time

9. Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception- November 2nd 2011 (EU)

I have always enjoyed Naughty Dog€™s games like Crash Bandicoot before he moved to Konami and was entirely ruined. I also liked Jak and Daxter for its colourful charming world that was punishingly difficult at times and actually felt like an adventure. Alas, the second and third games were bloody terrible and all the racing malarkey just turned me off like a girl when I tell them: €œI€™m a video game journalist€. After a few years Uncharted: Drake€™s Fortune exploded onto our shelves and while having a bit of an iffy story, the adventure more than made up for it. Among Thieves was the second instalment and again, while having an even worse story, the cinematic set pieces were extremely entertaining, like punching a sperm whale. So by the time Drake's Deception came out I was ready for a pretty poor story, but some outstanding cinematic spectacles. Whilst this was somewhat true because the ship and plane scenes are pretty amazing, the story and more importantly the ending, was inexcusable. The conclusion is almost like a fairy-tale and seems completely rushed. I know Uncharted has always dabbled in the whole ancient magical artefacts nonsense, but double D took it way too far. Also, the dialogue is so Americanised and cheesy it makes me recoil like an embarrassed armadillo. The chemistry between Drake and Elena Fisher has never been excellent, but in Drake's Deception it€™s so stock I may use it to flavour my soup. It€™s so safe and commercial; Elena has a spunky tough chick disposition while Drake (when he is around her) becomes utterly stupid like his brain fell out his arse. We€™ve seen this in countless movies and having it in the game world hasn€™t made it any better. Drake and Sully€™s dialogue however, was decent and even funny at times, but I still left Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception feeling pretty disappointed. As my last gripe, I have always found Drake's posture very odd, like he€™s constantly got a bad back; I can€™t be the only one who thinks that.

Thomas James Hunt is a British Video Game Critic who is a rather unpleasant character in the journalism world. So brace yourself for some nasty behaviour in the form of articles.
